Re-weaving is the most involved restoration we do, and it’s entirely by hand. After cleaning, our restorers evaluate the extent of the damage and select matching yarn in the correct fiber (wool, silk, or cotton) and color, sometimes using antique materials salvaged from period kilims and Soumak rugs. A custom frame holds the rug taut while the missing pattern is rebuilt row by row, secured with double knotting, then shaved and finished so the new pile blends seamlessly with the old. The result is a rug returned to its original condition — structurally sound and visually whole. The same patience applies to antique restoration and to specialized Persian and Oriental rug repair.
Restoration isn’t only about fixing damage — it’s about preventing it. We apply high-grade stain protection that repels future soiling, and specialist moth treatment and prevention that eliminates adult moths and eggs and guards wool and silk against reinfestation. For rugs between uses, climate-controlled storage protects against humidity, pests, and light, and a proper custom rug pad extends pile life and protects your floors.
